What It Handles
Windows, Mac, and Unix line endings are all treated the same, so text copied from any source is cleaned the same way. Leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed rather than left behind.
When You Need It
Text copied out of a PDF usually carries a hard return at the end of every visual line, which turns into ragged wrapping when you paste it somewhere else. Quoted email replies, wrapped code comments, and text pulled from a terminal have the same problem.
