Gothic Font Generator

A free gothic font generator that turns text into blackletter style, like π”Šπ”¬π”±π”₯𝔦𝔠 𝔗𝔒𝔡𝔱 or π•²π–”π–™π–π–Žπ–ˆ π•Ώπ–Šπ–π–™. It uses Unicode Fraktur characters, so you can paste the result into bios, posts, and chat where you cannot change the font.

Example result

π”ž 𝔀𝔲𝔦𝔑𝔒 𝔱𝔬 𝔩𝔦𝔳𝔦𝔫𝔀 𝔴𝔦𝔱π”₯ 𝔩𝔒𝔰𝔰

How to Use the Gothic Font Generator

Type or paste into the box and the gothic version appears below. Switch between Gothic and Bold Gothic to compare, then copy the one you want. Bold Gothic holds up better at small sizes, such as a name in a comment thread.

Blackletter and Fraktur

Blackletter is the dense, broken-stroke style that European scribes and early printers used, especially in German-speaking countries. Fraktur is its best-known form: the first Fraktur typeface was made in the early 16th century for a project commissioned by Emperor Maximilian I, and Fraktur stayed common in German printing into the 20th century until the Nazi government banned it in 1941. Today it shows up on mastheads, beer labels, and tattoos, and people online often call it "gothic" or "Old English" text.

How Gothic Text Works in Unicode

Unicode includes two Fraktur alphabets in its Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, because mathematicians use Fraktur letters as symbols. Mathematical Bold Fraktur is complete, with all 52 capital and lowercase letters in one run.

Regular Mathematical Fraktur is missing five capitals: C, H, I, R, and Z. They were encoded earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block as β„ (U+212D), β„Œ (U+210C), β„‘ (U+2111), β„œ (U+211C), and ℨ (U+2128), and the mathematical block leaves gaps where they would go. A gothic generator has to fill those five from Letterlike Symbols, which is why they can look slightly different from the other letters in some fonts. Neither alphabet has numbers, so digits and punctuation stay as they are.

Where It Works and Where It Does Not

Gothic text pastes into Instagram, Discord, X, and most apps that accept ordinary text. Usernames with strict character rules reject it, and older devices may show boxes. Blackletter is also hard to read at length, and screen readers can read these characters as math symbols or skip them. Use it for a name, a heading, or a single word, not a paragraph.

More styles: the fancy text generator shows gothic next to every other style, or try cursive text, bold text, glitch text, and Discord fonts.
